"Steelhead Trout were once common in the Los Angeles River. Steelhead are rainbow trout that live part of their lives in the sea. In the 1940s large Steelhead were fished in the LA River. They are famous sport-fish. Today none live in the LA River and less than one percent of So. Cal. spawning areas remain."
